Onion Creek is located in the northeast corner of Washington State, near the upper Columbia River and Lake Roosevelt. It sits about 25 miles north of Colville and roughly 30 miles from the Canadian border.

History
A Brief History
Onion Creek was settled by farmers and loggers in the late 1800s. At that time, the area was known as Standard, and reaching it meant traveling a long dirt road from the county seat in Colville.
In the 1970s, a new wave of settlers arrived in the area. Many built log homes, lived close to the land, and embraced a self-sufficient lifestyle. That independent pioneer spirit is still part of Onion Creek today.
Onion Creek General Store
The Onion Creek General Store has long been one of the most recognizable parts of the community. More than a place to buy groceries or fuel, it has served as a gathering place, local landmark, and source of information for residents and visitors alike.
For generations, neighbors have stopped here for supplies, conversation, community news, and a reminder that small rural communities still thrive through local connections.

Onion Creek School
Onion Creek School has served local children for generations, with students from preschool through eighth grade. The school is known for small class sizes, personal attention, community involvement, and unique learning opportunities.
Some classes have been held in the original 1917 school building, and in 2015 the school celebrated its 100th anniversary.
